The original inspiration for this whole project was the way the rail cables would fly by in strange synchronicity to the music playing in headphones when sat on a train. The synchronicity was only sometimes close to what we regard as 'normal' rhythms. Sometimes coincidentally finding the beat of the music, but most the time it seemed to synchronise in a beautiful way of its own. Swaying around the time of the music, something more akin to freedom than to rhythmic constraints.
It was with this starting point of inspiration that this collection of music has been compiled. The 7 compilations put together feature nearly 8 hours of train inspired music, created by 28 acts. This 10 track 50 minute long collection features snippets from every contributor to the series so far. All woven and melded into one another, mostly out of rhythmic synchronisation but resulting in many wonderful sporadic moments of beautiful unity, the same way the rail cables can surprise when finding intricate counter rhythms.
This collection also features the voices of friends describing memorable times they have been on trains. Like the quiet background voices when travelling with others around you, the voices are low in the mix. A massive thank you to all the musicians, all the graphic designers, all the people who have spoke of trains for this collection, and a massive thank you to the people who have supported this venture.
During the final days of writing my thesis I listened to this album on repeat for hours at a time. It was like being suspended in one eternal moment while all that changed around me were the ripples and eddies of a slowly meandering river. catharina_bee
A wonderful musical collection that shows the unity of the whole world and the support of Ukraine during the long war, which will undoubtedly end with the victory of Ukraine. And now the terrible numbers... Only according to official data as of today #russiaisaterroriststate killed 510 children in Ukraine, injured another 1141 children, kidnapped 19546 children. There are many more unofficial victims. And russia remains a member of the UN... desynkro303
Just imagine if these outtakes made it into EATEOT, the project would've been over seven hours! I love how "I Might Be Vanishing" is a stark contrast from other tracks, being only nine seconds. 913GA
